our little story.

Toga and Lisa Hertzog are currently celebrating their 27th year in the restaurant business. The couple established themselves in 1995 transforming the former Arlene's Washington Only Gift store into a fine dining restaurant. After completing an extensive 5 month remodel, they opened on July 1st as Toga's Northwest & International Cuisine. Serving the community for 14 great years and establishing themselves as a destination Northwest fine dining house. Receiving many accolades by such Magazines as Sunset and Northwest Lifestyles, consecutive three diamond ratings by National travel guides - AAA, Mobile & Fodor's Travel Guide, Northwest Best Places, Northwest Best Places To Kiss, a long with being Voted "Most Romantic Restaurant in Clallam County" By Reader's Of Peninsula Daily News "Best Of the Peninsula" Reader's Poll 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009.

After much consideration Toga and Lisa decided in 2009 to make a life change from a "fine dining" restaurant to reinventing themselves into a local lunch hangout, serving fresh homemade soups, salads, gourmet sandwiches. The extensive six month remodel was in most part done to give the couple more time with their children; Karsten-22, and Alex-20, as the restaurant hours prevented them from quality family time in the evenings and weekends.

The new Soup House also features fresh baked pastries, cakes and torts made by in house baker Katrina Leslie, who shares her experience with having baked professionally in Seattle at the Urban Bakery, Honeybear Bakery and Zoka's Coffee House.

Toga's also features a drive-up window accessible on Motor Ave behind the eatery for quick on the go purchases. In January of 2015, the restaurant added a new espresso menu and brought on barista Robin Tweter - owner of one of the first espresso stands in Port Angeles. Featuring a wide variety of local Northwest wines, local and German draught beer.

The business, with six employees, re-opened on June 4th, 2009, with the hours of 8am to 3pm Monday thru Friday. Over the last 10 years, Toga's has expanded with cooking classes, wine dinner nights & special Jagerstein nights where patrons get to cook on their own 500 degree granite stone.

For the last weekend of September Toga's celebrates Oktoberfest with Uli Lengenberg of Uli's Famous Sausage of Seattle. Featuring a variety of German brats, homemade sauerkraut, fresh in house baked pretzels and draught Paulaner Beer from Munich.

Every year in the second weekend in October, Toga's Soup House Sandwiches and Espresso also serves roughly 150 gallons of Clam Chowder, Tomato Bisque, and fresh made-on-site Dungeness Crab Bisque at the Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival.
